The AYF DC “Ani” Seniors and “Sevan” Juniors are two vibrant chapters of the Armenian Youth Federation (AYF) in the Washington, DC area, dedicated to preserving Armenian culture, fostering community engagement, and advancing the organization’s mission of activism, education, athleticism, and leadership development.
AYF DC “Ani” Seniors
The “Ani” chapter comprises members aged 17 and older, actively involved in organizing and participating in various events and initiatives, such as cultural programs, activism campaigns, and philanthropic efforts. The chapter emphasizes leadership and community-building, often collaborating with other local Armenian organizations to promote Armenian causes and strengthen ties within the community. A major highlight for the chapter was hosting the 2023 AYF Olympics, a prestigious and long-standing annual event that brought together AYF members from across the United States and Canada for athletic competitions, cultural performances, and social gatherings. This successful event showcased the chapter’s organizational skills and commitment to the AYF’s values.
AYF DC “Sevan” Juniors
The “Sevan” Juniors chapter focuses on youth members aged 8 to 17, nurturing the next generation of Armenian leaders. Through weekly meetings, educational workshops, and social activities, the chapter instills a strong sense of Armenian identity, community service, and leadership skills in its members. The Juniors are often involved in cultural celebrations, commemorative events, and fundraising efforts, providing a foundation for their active participation in the AYF once they transition to the Senior chapter.
Both chapters play integral roles in the Armenian community, connecting individuals to their heritage while encouraging them to advocate for Armenian rights and support local and global initiatives. Their collective efforts and hosting of the 2023 AYF Olympics underscore their dedication to uniting Armenians through sports, culture, and community.
