On Sunday, September 14, 2025, the Hamazkayin DC Chapter hosted a special community screening of My Sweet Land at Soorp Khatch Church Hall in Bethesda, Maryland. The film, directed by Sareen Hairabedian, was previously featured at the prestigious DC/DOX Film Festival where it played to a sold-out audience.

Through the eyes of 11-year-old Vrej Khatchtryan, My Sweet Land offers a heartfelt portrayal of the hopes, fears, and intergenerational resilience of the people of Artsakh. The documentary captivated attendees, shedding light on the profound human stories behind ongoing struggles in the region.

Following the screening, director Sareen Hairabedian engaged in a lively Q&A session, giving the audience an opportunity to reflect more deeply on the film’s themes and to better understand the experiences of young Vrej and his community.

The evening was not only an artistic and cultural event but also an opportunity for collective support. Guests were encouraged to contribute toward the educational future of Vrej Khatchtryan, the young boy featured in the film. Community members who wish to help cover his education costs can do so by donating at the following link:
