I joined the AYF when I was just 8 years old. Even then, something about the energy and the community drew me in. AYF meetings, events, and especially Junior Seminar are some of my most vivid childhood memories.
As I’ve grown older, I’ve come to realize just how valuable those experiences were. I still clearly remember my first Junior Seminar, my cabin, my counselors, the educational programs, the songs, the dances, and the friends that I am still close with to this day.
To all of the parents, I strongly encourage you: sign your children up for these programs! Even if they’re hesitant in the beginning and maybe do not understand the meaning of what they are doing, these experiences will stay with them. These are the memories that will bring them back to the Armenian community again and again as they grow older.
Սիրելի ծնողներ, կը խնդրեմ ձեզմէ, որ ձեր զաւակները արձանագրէք AYF-ի բոլոր ծրագիրներուն: Նոյնիսկ եթէ անոնք սկիզբը չուզեն, նոյնիսկ եթէ դեռ ամբողջովին չեն հասկնար՝ այս փորձառութիւնները իրենց հետ պիտի մնան։ Ասոնք այն յիշատակներն են, որոնք զիրենք կրկին ու կրկին պիտի վերադարձնեն դէպի հայկական համայնքը, երբ մեծնան։
The AYF is much more than an organization; it is a foundation of our culture. Through our educational programs, we teach our juniors about Armenian culture in all its richness: our dances, our songs, our language, and our history. We teach them about defining moments such as Armenia’s independence, the Armenian Genocide, Artsakh, and how to survive as Armenians in the diaspora.
Մեր լեզուն, մեր մշակոյթը, մեր պատմութիւնը՝ այս բոլորը մեր ինքնութեան հիմքն են։ Եթէ մենք չպահպանենք զանոնք, ո՞վ պիտի պահէ։
Our language and culture are vital to the survival of the Armenian people. And in order to survive, we must remain united. The AYF provides one of the strongest and most accessible ways for our youth to stay connected to their roots.
Այսօր կրնամ վստահաբար ըսել, որ AYF-ը միայն կազմակերպութիւն մը չէ, այլ ընտանիք մըն է։
Today, I stand here not just as a member, but as a leader, one who has grown up within this community and wants to give back to it.
AYF has given me friendships, leadership skills, and a strong sense of culture and identity that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I hope that every junior gets the chance to experience that same growth, that same connection, and that same sense of belonging.
AYF-ը ինծի տուած է ընկերներ, առաջնորդական հմտութիւններ, մշակութային գիտելիքներ եւ ինքնութեան զգացում մը, որ ամբողջ կեանքիս ընթացքին պիտի մնայ ինծի հետ։ Իմ յոյսս այն է, որ ամէն պատանի ունենայ առիթը ապրելու նոյն փորձառութիւնները, նոյն կապը եւ նոյն պատկանելիութեան զգացումը։
